I thought it was a fun movie to watch. Love story and hero story all tied up in a tongue in cheek kinda way

Classic Scifi movie. Bad 80's special effects, but cool costumes.

By today’s CGI blood n’ guts standards, The Last Starfighter might seem a little tame. Consider, however, that it was made in 1984 – it was one of the first movies to use modern computer animation – and this little gem of a science fiction movie holds up pretty well. It is a classic story: a young man named Alex has big dreams and is desperate to escape his small town life. He has a particular talent with an arcade videogame called Starfighter, and once he beats the game, his destiny comes to call - in a tricked-out Lamborghini. But the game was actually a test, revealing Alex’s gift as a gunner, and before you can say “Centauri” the car turns into a space-ship that whisks him off to fight in an actual intergalactic war, one that threatens the future of Earth as well.

The Last Starfighter trailer

Other than the mild swearing from the ten-year-old, this film is a sweet-natured adventure, and is suitable for the entire family. This edition includes lots of bonuses, including interviews with its former teenage stars, now 25 years older.
