This is a very adventurous book that takes you through the life of a boy living through war. It brings you through a road in Peekay's teen years, losing loved ones and gaining respect from others. It also illustrates a clear image of how…

The edition of the book on the site is not the same as the one I read. The one on the site seems to be the "Young Readers' Condensed Edition" not the regular one. If you want to read the full, unabridged version, the ISBN on my copy is…

The best novel I have ever read. I couldn't stop reading it, and everyone I have shared it with has loved it as well.

Such a good book! The Power of One is well written, the characters immersing and well done. The different scenes in the book cued a slew of messy emotions from me. The racism and attitude towards the people of color in the story made me…

One of my favourite books by my favourite author. Peekay is a little too precocious but a great read and great insight into pre-WWII South America.

Excellent story. I loved the boxing scenes. Peekay is a precocious and attentive character and it was such a joy to follow him through the pages of his life in apartheid South Africa.

This book is an amazing read, though it is a long story it is filled with intriguing detail and a twisting plot line. If you enjoy a packed book to keep you busy (especially over a holiday or vacation) this book is definitely worth looking…

I couldn't finish this novel. I was intrigued by the reviews of many people, but I found the pace too slow with too much detail. I also was turned off by the boxing theme. I liked getting some insight into the Boers vs. Afrikaans.

This book is an enchanting story of a little boy growing up in South Africa during the rise of Hitler. If, like me, you've ever wanted to learn more about the recent 20th Century history of South Africa this book delivers a well-told story…

I loved this book! Courtenay is a great writer who tells a great story that is almost totally believable. Is there anyone else, though, who did not love the very ending. I could not picture Peekay having it in him to cut the swastika…

Started off really enjoying this book, but then it got old. I stopped reading it about half way through. Perhaps I was more disappointed than I should have been because of the hype about the book. It just didn't keep me interested…

This was a very realistic story that I enjoyed reading. The book the story of the power that one individual can have. In order to truly enjoy this book, the individual must be mature enough to realize the meaning of the story.

I expected a lot more from this as everyone had read it when I was younger then I realised there was another version of this book for young people. Some parts were long-winded and far too descriptive but I enjoyed reading about…

Two stars in this system means OK, which this book was, so it's not really a putdown, but I was expecting much more from this very popular book. The characters were stereotypes, with school bullies becoming Nazis and the little guy always…
