What a superb legend Guterson has created here. As earthy and realistic as it is, this novel "rocks" in ghostlier ways. I read it more than 10 years ago in fogbound northern California, as close as I could get to this book's sunless stomping grounds. By now an avid Guterson fan, I'm ready to reread it. Try it, you'll like it!
