It may help to go into this realizing it really *is* a Christmas book and it has 3 separate stories, the first two of which deal with Christmas. The first story is roughly two thirds of the book. It has recognizable Baldacci characterizations to it but is essentially a feel-good story and lacking zest. The second is only a couple of pages and to be honest I quickly got bored with it. I think it ended with an over-used "surprise" element. The third is more Baldacci-like and is a prequel to the Camel Club.

Not too bad but very non Baldacci.

Gather strangers together for days on a cross-country train in unpredictable winter weather. Add a bit of romance, a bit of mystery, and a fun (albeit far-fetched) plot twist at the end, and you have all the makings of a great Christmas read.

Disappointing for a Baldacci plot. It read more like a teen romance that while trying, had no zing to any suspense or comedy.

Fun read with realistic logistics of long distance train rides. It was funny and presented several twists in the finale.
