The Rising Tide. --- by. --- Jeff Shaara.
It might be argued, that the major turning point of World War II was a monstrous battle fought at Stalingrad. If that is the case then the second most important battles were those fought in North Africa. The names of the commanders of those dayshave become the stuff of legend: Rommel, Kesselring, Eisenhower, Patton; names that are to go on in the final battle for victory in Europe. This novel, Is just that, a novel of historical fiction based True events that True events and as such they present events and lime The people, in a way that no biographies no history's camp The people, in a way that no biographies no history's can. Shaara tells a compelling story and he does it in a way that makes it difficult, impossible, to put the book down. For those with an interest in the actions of men at war; for those with an interest in what transpired on those pivotal months in the desert, this is the book that will surely hold their attention.

Shaara moves into the Second World War with this exceptional novel, using his fine sense of character and style as he explores the North African and Sicily campaigns primarily from the point of view of both sides. I recommend this one.
