The Cassons are just fantastic. I soooo wish I had that sort of family.

As I was reading this book, I was trying to figure out what, specifically, it is about this series that I love so much, and what I hit on was the fact that McKay doesn't focus solely on the Casson children, like most kids' books do. She gives snippets of the parents' point of view as well, and the result is a book that doesn't talk down to its audience and that is funny for both kids and adults (though they might not necessarily be laughing at all of the same bits). It was fun having Rose at the center of this story, as she's really the true heart of this series, and, as ever, I finished this book eager to pick up the next one immediately.
