The DVD cover is perhaps a little misleading. Although romance comes into the story much later, the story itself is about the incredibly creative life of Beatrix Potter, the creator of all of those beautifully illustrated books for children about Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, etc. Beatrix was a fiercely independent woman at a period in time when that was unacceptable, a challenge which she met fully throughout her life. A thoroughly enjoyable film.

I usually don't like or watch romance films, and at first I was reluctant to watch Miss Potter, but I actually enjoyed it. And I tormented one of my sisters with the song in the movie. "When You Taught Me How to Dance"!

Every so often, a really fine film finds its way though the morass of so many; Miss Potter is one of those films! A period film that traces a remarkable woman who is 'painted' (pun intended) quite the opposite at the beginning. It is charming in a genuine way and provides us with much to ponder regarding this time and place. The major actors and actresses are superb! Although the chief protagonist is an authoress and illustrator of children's books, her life was marked by very adult tensions. Those tensions were well explored in this film...including a most difficult one: the death of her intended which she must deal with---in all its agony and resolution---for the remainder of the film. That 'subsection' of the film is well worth experiencing. Although easily considered a 'family film,' and shot with pastoral beauty, Miss Potter finds its importance---to this reviewer's mind---in a woman's hopes, determination and the 'breath of her heart." Five thumbs up for such a fine film!

An absolutely beautiful movie. The storyline, the costumes, the scenery, and set design are amazing. I first saw this movie when it came to the theatres. Watching it a second time all these years later is just as magical as the first time. If you have ever enjoyed a Beatrix Potter book, then you need to watch this movie.

This is a movie that really transports you. Romantic, soulfully acted, beautiful scenery. A most enjoyable movie. I saw it last night for the third time and still loved it.

This has become one of my favorite movies. It was so nicely done. And, to think that a woman, back in that time, was so independent and forward thinking. Beatrix Potter lives on in her books, even today.

Generally I loathe British class-caste Jane Austen type chick flicks ... but Rene Zellweger's remarkable acting and the animations (which were quite integral to the story) made what could not be said in Victorian times actually conveyed to me.

Wonderful movie! Everything was so authentic and richly portrayed. The animations were adorable and brought her creativity to life!
