NOT SF/F. By the author of the "Outlander" series. Apparently having mined that line for all its worth (actually far far MORE than it was worth) she has apparently branched out into new areas of romance-noveldom - which still does not make THIS series SF/F either. I am SO tired of coming across stuff like this under SF/F and unwittingly (*shudder*) taking it home, only to find myself with a volume full of tripe. Seriously. The library needs to stop classifying romance novels as SF/F just because they involve time travel, zombies, witches, vampires, or werewolves.

This book is three short stories in one. As usual, Diana Gababldon creates interesting stories even in this short story format. Granted, we know Lord John from previous books and we are familiar with the time frame depicted.

Lord John Grey, a minor character from Gabaldon's Outlander novels, stars in this collection of short stories and novellas and is provided with various mysteries to solve. As usual, the stories are enjoyable, although at some point the thought occurred that an oddly disproportionate number of the people LJ encounters, both women and men, seem to want him. In the third story, I was worried that Ms. Gabaldon intended to kill him off. I've grown fond of Lord John, but I can't help but wonder if he'll ever find true happiness in love.
