I give this 5 stars! A great read, one I could not put down. I have read this and the second in the series, which was equally as good and am now on the 3rd. Great characters, easy read and a very twisted and evil villain.

**spoiler alert** I really enjoyed this book. Gretchen Lowell, beautiful, seductive and as creepy as hell, a serial killer extreme torturer, who tortured her last victim -Detective Archie Sheridan and after 10 days decided to turn herself in and save him.

He's not a perfect protagonist, he's got principles, but he's also addicted to Vicodin for the pain, his marriage is a shambles...and he visits Gretchen every Sunday in the maximum security prison.

Great read, not for everyone, but I sure enjoyed this thriller.

I did not like this book at all. with 30 pages to go I almost gave up. But I did finish it and I am SO glad I did.

Plot, brutally boring and dull in terms of the current unknown killer through the book. The flashbacks to Archie and Gretchen were the best parts and really stood out from the rest of the book.

Characters, Archie and Susan were great, not much development but still strong. Everyone else boring and forgettable. Yawn.

Gretchen is the most insanely creepy serial killer I've read. Cringe worthy and spine tingling and every other twisted adjective are completely deserved. Really enjoyed all her scenes.
It really wasn't until the second last chapter that everything picked up which was a great lead into the second book.

The first installment in Cain's Archie Sheridan/Gretchen Lowell series, this is a solid detective thriller. Cain offers the classic serial killer vs. time hardened detective, with enough background events to complicate things. The necessary side kick is found in a female newspaper writer, and of course drama ensues. A quick, entertaining, but often gruesome read.

Decent book. A very easy read. Enjoyed it. Most of the book wasn't THAT graphic. A few pages might rattle a tender heart. Recommended.

I decided to read this book series since I heard they might be making a tv series out of it. A great book it draws you in. Gretchen is the female verison of Dexter

Alright novel. I felt like the story lacked some depth. Didn't make me want to read the sequels.
