This book is okay. I don't know why, but I really didn't like the South American Carpathian family. After a point, I found it was getting ridiculous that every new family bloodline that was introduced into the Dark series had to be more powerful than the ones that came before it. But since two of the ones that came before were the Carpathian Prince (literally the heart and center of all his people) and the Daratrazanoffs who went hand in hand with the Carpathian Prince, it bothered me that the De La Cruz family suddenly had to uber powerful too. My question to that has always been, why? Not every Carpathian family needs to be super powerful. In fact, I think I would have remained interested in this series if Christine Feehan hadn't done that. Instead, it didn't bode well for things to come.

Now, onto the romance...which was okay. I think I was starting to get jaded by how all of the Dark romances went, because I didn't really care about either Manolito or MaryAnn. They weren't bad characters or badly written; they were just there. They didn't really stand out to me beyond any of the other Carpathian couples of the series, which is a shame, because at least all of others stood out in some way or other. However, at least I was still willing to continue reading the series after this book, which is not what I can say about the next book I read, Dark Secret.

Mary Ann Delaney --one of my favorite human characters in Christine Feehan's Dark Carpathian series-- makes a return in "Dark Possession". I enjoyed her feisty courage in the face of being kidnapped ... and claimed by Manolito, one of the infamous De La Cruz brothers. Just the thought of that happening to me in real life, would scare me half to death. But, it would be a rather interesting challenge, as the Carpathians are noble predators, that...will...protect humans they consider as family.

I simply love this book. Manlito is smart handsome and mysterious. The werewolf carpathaian is amazing.

Manolito De La Cruz knew he was dangerously close to turning into a vampire. The last thing he expected after being called back to his Carpathian homeland by Prince Mikhail was to catch the scent of his destined lifemate in MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn is human, but she knows all too well the overwhelmingly aggressive instincts of Carpathian males. And they're not exactly the kind of men she'd prefer to be bound to for life.

A dedicated counselor for battered women, MaryAnn has a fulfilling life with no room for someone like Manolito, born and bred in the Carpathian Mountains, a law unto himself. But when MaryAnn agrees to go to South America to offer guidance to a brutalized young woman, she's oblivious of the trap that awaits her in the sweltering thick of the jungle. She has been lured there by Manolito himself, who has seductive plans for the unaware, irresistibly human female.

Once there, she will be his. Once his, she will never be released. He is her lover, her predator, her lifemate. She is his dark possession....
