Meandering movie, lacking structure and direction. D'onfrio the romantic lead
is all affected tics and twitches ( like his TV detective).

Despite the star cast, this was a very disappointing film. The producer and director let us down very badly with a bad screenplay and extremely bad directing. Rene Zellweger was poorly directed and given a script well beneath her ability, and D'Onofrio was flat out miscast as Robert Evans. The role required a more dynamic actor and he was cast well over his ability. The cinematography was beautiful at times but inconsistently edited. There were several scene changes where continuity was jarring or just didn't make any sense.

Beautifully crafted story of Conan the Barbarian creator Robert E. Evans. Set in 1933-1936 small town Texas, heat, vistas, costumes and settings are correct. From the book ONE WHO WALKED ALONE. Renee Zellweger & Vincent D'Onofrio are outstanding as the connection, the yearning, the love and the pain are all on the screen. You can listen and enjoy the wonderful writing as well. The cast commentary is worth the time.

UTTERLY SAD STORY of a very talented great writer, who can NOT love himself enough, to love the woman who WORSHIPED, ADMIRED & LOVED him for 5 decades.

One wonders, with all his TALENT to create & write stories & a beautiful woman seeking his love, what could have made the Writer lonely, reclusive, delusional, to the point of committing suicide.

GREAT SCENERY FILM!!!
