Ben Affleck is slowly becoming one of my favourite directors. I've seen THE TOWN and, of course, ARGO, which I loved, but I hadn't seen his directorial debut, GONE BABY GONE. Directing his brother Casey in the lead role, GONE BABY GONE centers on the case of a missing little girl in a crummy neighbourhood who refuse to cooperate with the police. Little bits of information come out, slowly revealed, which adds to the suspense until the twist ending that I honestly didn't see coming. I thought it was good -- not as entertaining as ARGO, but entertaining nonetheless. Affleck truly deserves some recognition for his consistently strong output. For anyone who likes a missing persons flick, I'd definitely recommend GONE BABY GONE.

Can't recommend "Gone Baby Gone" more than the other KCLS patrons already have stated. The surprising story a real kidnapping of a 4 year old young girl in Boston. The family tries to work through both the police and private detectives. The film is suspenseful throughout and the ending will certainly surprise you!

Let me say right off the bat that Gone Baby Gone has an intricate plot. If you don't have the intelligence to follow anything more than a 30 minute sitcom, then stay away from this movie. It's set in a tough, gritty section of Boston, highlighting all the negatives that reside there, so if you are repulsed by raw language and questionable morals, then this movie is not for you. For the rest of you, this is a pretty good movie.

Yes, Casey Affleck has that same kind of half-asleep acting quality as his brother Ben, but it's the plot that drives this movie. The first hour centers on the rescue of a missing daughter of a local drug addict, wonderfully played by Amy Ryan (Holy, of The Office). The next half hour develops around another missing boy. The final half hour wraps everything up. Will you agree with the outcome? That's the big question surrounding the movie: morals- when different people have different morals and all are good, who's morals should outweigh the others?

I am so disappointed! The description for this movie sounded like it had all the elements for a great movie. Unfortunately even though it had a premium cast, and a good plot, it just didn't develop. The violence and gory graphics seemed to be presented like a gift to the viewer to make up for having no substance, and even that was poorly done.

mush mouths - missed half the dialog - Casey Affleck is about as effective as a sweat sock - filthy language - don't waste your time

Great directorial-debut from Ben Affleck who's gone on to direct The Town and Argo. This film stars Casey Affleck as a detective searching for a missing girl. It's very thought-provoking when you finish the movie; there are many dilemmas that the main character faces where it isn't so easy to choose one side. Definitely a memorable movie, it makes me interested in the book.

Someone complained about the profanity throughout the movie; I don't think it takes anything away from the movie. I believe that it adds to the setting since swearing is typically part of Boston culture, where the novel is set. Ben Affleck was raised in Massachusetts so I'm sure that he understands the culture and people.

A very serious and intense dramatic film with a star studded cast. Casey Affleck shows great dramatic talent here with his brother, Ben behind the camera.

Based on a Dennis Lehane novel!
