When I first saw this book I was skeptical of a story about a guinea pig going to Hollywood and making it big. But when I opened the book I was sold from the very first illustration.

Charlie is a guinea pig who decides he wants more than a life in a cage. He leaves for Hollywood where he makes it big. But he very quickly realizes he has lost something important. He has lost those who know him, his comforts and his peace. Charlie gives up Hollywood to go home where he is welcomed back with open arms.

The illustrations in this story are gorgeous, colorful, quirky, and fun. There is a lot of life to them which made me want to look closer at every aspect of every picture. In one picture you can even find Dorothy's shoes from Wizard of Oz.

This story didn't have a lot of moral fiber other than home is best, but it was so much hilarious fun and obviously meant to be taken lightly due to the many unrealistic aspects to it. But books that are clean and nonsensical fun are always high on my list of favorites.

I can see little kids of all ages giggling over Charlie's antics and having a good time.

I think it's a tad long...and I wasn't attracted to the illustrations all that much.
