Get a bottle of Dramamine. Filmed like the Blair Witch movie. 84 minutes of my life I've wasted. Very lame.

Can't see what is going on. The constant language and taking of Our LORD's name in vain was terrible. Not recommended.

I hope here got a negative star so I can award it to this film.
Nothing worth to see. only shaking scene. Some very exciting idea could be but only in the brain of the director. Just wasted my time and my power to pay for.

I wish there was a lower rating than 1/2 star. This movie had nothing interesting or scary and the ending was particularly useless.

Godzilla meets the Blair Witch as a small handful of hapless yuppies record the ingestion of New York City while fleeing for their lives. It all begins at an upscale party where a loft-full of beautiful people have gathered to bid a fond farewell to the guest of honour. Walking among the clinking beer bottles and dazzling white smiles, video camera in hand, party animal Hud tries to capture every witty remark and drunken innuendo when suddenly...shit happens! There’s a mighty tremor, followed by a blackout and then another tremor. Rushing to the rooftop the partygoers witness an enormous explosion in the distance which fills the sky with flaming debris necessitating a hasty retreat to the sidewalk below. But once they join the crowds of dazed pedestrians things start to get really interesting with toppling skyscrapers, monstrous rumblings and tantalizingly brief glimpses of something huge and reptilian wreaking havoc in downtown Manhattan. When the head of the Statue of Liberty comes flying down the street however the gang decides it’s time to make their way across the river where things seem to be much calmer. As Hud tapes their every move they get hung up on the Brooklyn Bridge, run into trigger-happy national guardsmen, and do battle with some long-legged beasties in a rat-infested subway tunnel...but will they survive the night? Reeves has fashioned a fiendishly clever film that combines a good old-fashioned monster movie with a satirical critique on post 9-11 hysteria. The sound effects and CGI-generated mayhem are impeccable while the amateurish video footage maintains a state of claustrophobic panic. Of course there are some awkward plot devices; Reeves doesn’t explain why people who are running in terror would decide to record an ongoing documentary, and we are expected to believe it would take the army only 15 minutes to flood NYC with tanks and battalions. But with a movie so chockfull of awesome destruction and deliriously chaotic action sequences it is easy to forgive. Be forewarned though, Cloverfield’s jerky handheld camerawork is not for the weak of stomach.

I wanted to gouge out my eyes during the first 20 minutes of so it this. Not because it was scary, but because i hate the characters and watching them interact at a party was soooo boring. However, once the action started taking off it got so much better. I also really enjoyed how the monster is mostly hidden. Good call.

I hate movies without a good ending. Too much mayhem and pointlessness. This monster just come out of he blue with no real reasoning behind anything. The video style was no different than the Blair Witch Project, I enjoyed that movie a bit more.

Annoyingly shot film. Not worth seeing.

WOW! Cloverfield's ferocious alien attack certainly started off on a perfectly wonderful note with the creature literally knocking the Statue of Liberty's block off.... Yes. Cloverfield had its share of terrible moments (Like the pure asininity of Rob Hawkins' rescue mission of Beth) - But, with all that stuff aside, the level of panic and mayhem generated in the story was nothing short of exhilarating. And, that, coupled with some superb, ass-kicking visual effects had Cloverfield bending over backwards to deliver a considerable sized wallop in the essential categories of thrills and chills.

I would love to write a quote here, but this movie is not that pithy. It doesn't have much dialog other than "What was that?' and "Oh my God! RUN!!" These feel like real people running for their lives, so they don't have really time to be funny or profound.
