Three Gorges Dam was drafted in early 1920s and was not picked up for development until late 1980s. Issues and Challenges of this mega project are viewed differently by environmental scientist and human geographers. This documentary could possibly be the first film ever made to pre-witness a disaster yet to come

A beautiful, insightful,.. but politically one-sided, documentary. (There's nothing about clean energy and economic progress.)

I completely agree with the assessment below by Ron@Ottawa. The photography on and near the river was amazing and the story engaging. I think the film maker did an excellent job of showing the true emotions of all the people involved.

An excellent documentary by Montreal director Yung Chang on how lives and families were affected by the construction of the massive Three Gorges Dam. The flow was natural, and all non-actors did well in front of the camera. One of the best docu-dramas ever done.

I really wanted to like this but it was very poorly done - views of the river incredible but that's about it.

This movie was very interesting. It focused on a few teens working on tour boats, not on the construction or environmental impacts of the dam.
