A great back-up band. If you are Paul McCartney, you can call on some great musicians from outside the pop field. Paul's singing on this album is definitely substandard. However, if you r=treat it as him having fun on holiday singing jazz music, it can be a lot of fun. But only on the mid-tempo numbers. The slow pieces with strings bored me. It takes a great jazz musician to be able to play jazz with strings attached.
Sorry, I wasn't impressed. There are no liner notes, but guest musicians include Eric Clapton & Stevie Wonder (on harmonica.)
WOW! A thuroughly enjoyable album. Old Pauls voice isn't what it used to be, but his choice of songs to record is great. The instruments behind him are wonderfully played, and I found myself singing many of these songs out loud long after the disc was returned. BRAVO !
