Meandering, avant-garde at times, and rather slow-moving, the ending of this story is extremely immoral and left me nearly shouting at the main characters: "you're doing the wrong thing! he's only going to become worse!" Completed 3/26/18.

These are unlikeable people and although at first I couldn't put the book down I became increasingly irritated with both the husband and wife. The husband acted stupidly most of the time. The ending was very unsatisfying. I figured out the 'whodunnit' early on but hated the way the book ended. Annoying!

What a weird book about seriously screwed up people. This was like the car wreck that you can't stop yourself from looking at. Somehow I was pulled into these awful people's lives and kept turning the pages. A psychological thriller with lots of secrets lurking in the background and even though you can figure out early on who did it, the tension keeps you going. Parts of this book are disturbing and crass and may not be for everyone. Wide use of the F-word. Can't really recommend this one.

There's been a wave of creepy, claustrophobic, twisty-turny domestic thrillers out recently, full of dark secrets lurking underneath a thin brittle layer of domestic tranquility and of love gone horribly, horribly wrong. Call them the new noir, maybe, or call them the children of Gillian Flynn’s GONE GIRL, but for folks like me who love this stuff, I’m enjoying the ride. In LINE OF BLOOD, a London couple tries to shield their precocious 11-year-old son, Max, from a crumbling, dysfunctional marriage – and when the next-door neighbor is found dead in his bathtub and the police start investigating, their very tenuous life comes toppling down like a stack of Jenga blocks. Dark, smart, and masterful, this one will leave you questioning everything.
