Doctor Blake mysteries (Television program)

Comment
Add a CommentEnjoyable period drama detective program, like all those British mysteries I like (Campion, Marple), except Blake is Australian. "Cozy", that's the word in looking for. He examines the murder victim for the police, does some dangerous sleuthing on the side, and meanwhile makes slow progress each episode on some personal development while everyone drives a funny old car.
Clever, unique episodes set in an interesting period in history. Fun seeing/hearing music played on turntable record player and cool vintage cars. Quite enjoyable cast and wonderfully different dynamic of those lodging/living within the Blake residence. Season two even better than Season one. Well written and acted. Enjoyable to watch a murder mystery series that is lower on the violence scale and, so-far, the crimes/images are much less grisly than most Scandavian and American crime series.
The story lines in series 2 are an improvement over series 1 - the characters more fully developed and interesting. Looking forward to series 3.
Not sanctimonious like season one. Pretty good.
Lucien Blake is gorgeous and an excellent actor. The plots are tightly woven and unexpectedly droll.
The murder plots of this series are out of the ordinary. Kudos to the script writers. Looking forward to Series 3.
