I haven't read the series so had no expectations. I really enjoyed this it was 1 of Stephen Kings better movies. Would have been great to see on the Big screen.

This was so disappointing. Being a lover of the Dark Tower series of books, I was appalled at this adaptation which bears little resemblance to the book. There is a guy named Roland, a guy named Walter, a kid called Jake and a "Dark Tower." That is where they are alike. And that is where it ends. It's an 8 book series and the tale is impossible to tell in two and a half hours, but I can't help but feel they could have done a better job.

Haven't read the book but it wasn't bad for a action, sci-fi. Characters weren't bad but maybe could have done a better casting for the "Man in Black". Found the story easy to follow and kept my attention.

I liked the movie. The three main characters were great.

Without character development, atmosphere or tension makes this adaptation completely lackluster.
Having never read the books I could tell that the story was too epic to fit into such a small format such as a feature film. Doubt it would have fared any better as a mini-series.
Disappointing!

I've never read the books so we thought the movie was fine! Lots of action and well acted. Love Idris in anything.

If I had borrowed this stinker in Vancouver, where they charge 50 cents per hold, I'd demand a refund. Not one redeeming feature.

Terrible. Disappointing.

It's a fine movie if you've never read the books, but if you have so much as read the first book it's awful. You can't squash 8 books into a 90 minute movie.

This movie was well-produced and the cast played their parts accordingly. The script, however was dismal and the source material was nowhere to be found. Seeing as it is supposed to be an adaptation of Stephen King's magnum opus, this is sacrilege. Some viewers may enjoy it as a fly-by-night action movie, but as someone who has waited for an adaptation for over a decade, I was very disappointed. I almost think that HBO should have made a miniseries version of The Dark Tower to replace revenue from this year's lapse in Game of Thrones. Instead, we got Westworld, and this pathetic cash-in of a movie.

Script does not remotely resemble books from the master writer King, harmless and dull except this repeated chant:

“I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father. I kill with my heart.”
