Sam is spending the summer in a beach town filled with beautiful blond girls who all seem inexplicably attracted to him. But that's not the only reason why he thinks the Girls are strange. They only wear flats because heels make their feet bleed. They never go swimming in the water. And they all want something from him. Sam finds himself in an unexpected summer romance when he falls for one of the Girls, DeeDee. But as they get closer, she pulls away without explanation. Sam knows that if he is going to win her back, he'll have to learn the Girls' secret.

This book is either my least favorite, or close to it.
Madison's characters are tiresome and unlikeable. The protagonist's lack of respect for women left me pretty uncomfortable. His brother and best friend were the same way.
The plot had some holes in it, the grammar was often times awkward, and logic seems to be absent.
I do not recommend this book.

The narrator is unlikable, made it to page 50, and returned it. I don't see what people like about it. It doesn't have the ease of a fun summer read like a Sarah Dessen book, nor the developed characters of a John Green book.

this book is a nice read about summer and a boy and girl, however it holds many deeper meanings and definitely explores these meanings throughout the book. a fantasy romance book that will have you spellbound to the end

I found this book to be a deep, calm well of enchantment. It took me out of myself and far down into myself. It was an escape from the stress and worries of life to a place of timeless tranquility; it was a reminder of all that I love and I emerged with a renewed passion for life.

In your small movements and gestures, something happened: the girl you thought I was began to acquire form . . . and she was beautiful in a way that had nothing to do with what I'd thought of as beauty. . . .

And I saw that she was me, sort of. I was her. I am those things that she is. It's unclear to me whether I am those things because you could see something that no one else could--something I couldn't see before I met you--or if I am those things because you made it true by seeing it.

Magic was complicated, but it was nothing compared to how complicated people were.

He grinned hopefully. (Or maybe it was hopelessly. I've noticed lately that there's often no practical difference between the two.)

I consider myself a sociable person, but sometimes I feel best being sociable with myself.

First we are alone. We're not sure how we find one another, but we do. Then we are still alone, but in the way sardines are alone.
