Wonderful movie!!! I loved every moment of it. You will be rooting for the characters in this story every step of the way.

I found this movie quite boring even with Winslet and Bridges. Ejected after 15-30 minutes.

I had listened to the audio book before watching the movie and I was quite disappointed in the movie. A lot was left out or changed in the movie. I listened to the audio-book (narrated by George Newbern) while driving back and forth from work. Some days I just wanted to keep on driving.

Thankful I did not buy a ticket to see this. I truly feel I could have written a better plot than this.

The scenery and the dog were awesome. So many different times when this movie could have pulled me in emotionally, but it never did. It drags in many places. And the actors had little change to their appearance after a 'plane crash' and days stranded in the snow-covered rugged mountains. It was almost comical how lucky they were to have ready built fires. I guess the cabin had a stock pile of wood for the fireplace, too.

I kept waiting for the never happened.

This is a survival story which evolved into a love story. Nothing wrong with that, except the story line is kind of flimsy. And many details of the survival are not very plausible. So it is just and 'OK' film for me. My wife enjoyed it more, making me believe the ending appeals more to viewers of the opposite sex.

It is very difficult to sustain a film with only two actors (even harder with one - see Tom Hardy in Locke) but overall it was reasonable. I don't find Idris Elba to be as good as the director and producers seem to think but I suppose that is personal to each viewer. The conditions for filming were terrible and the cast and crew must have really believed in the film to subject themselves to the climate.

Love the acting and chemistry. Scenery is magnificent. Good movie to watch if you don’t want to overthink about details. Overall I love the dog :)

I haven't read the book (yet) but a recent viewing of the film made me put it on my ‘To Do’ list. The plot seemed plausible with one teensy exception - not only is one of the survivors a Surgeon (what luck for the more injured 2nd survivor) but obviously a former Boy Scout Extraordinaire, as there were plenty of scenes played around fireside settings and no obvious signs indicating the frustrations involved in building, igniting and maintaining thereof? Harking back to my own personal dismal fire-building exercises I could only assume that Kate Winslet was one very fortunate recipient both in warmth and medical aid. That aside, both actors were totally believable and the location/scenery was both majestic and menacing. I found I was sitting on the edge of my seat on several occasions.

Having not read the book, i thought it was a really good movie. Really liked the emotion you could feel from the charachters, beautiful scenery.

I had previously read the book, and was excited to see the movie. I was so disappointed! Only vaguely followed the plot of the book. Be sure and read the book however, it was excellent! The movie is not worth your time!

Surprised that this quote from the book was left out the movie:
“... the mountain between us is one I cannot climb .”
We can go three weeks without food, three days without water, and three hours without shelter.
I owe you an apology. I did find that beacon. I saw it. It was smashed to pieces.
-No, you didn't know that when you came looking for me, did you?
If we stay here we're safe. If we leave, search and rescue, they're less likely to find us.
-Look, I don't want to die up here because you're too scared to take a risk. We have to do something.
Ben... do you actually know what it means to be reckless? It means to abandon safety.
- I know exactly what it means, Alex. And sometimes... But right now... Right now, we don't have a choice, okay? Nobody knows where we are. You know, all we have is me and you.
And the heart is just a muscle. Right?
-What idiot said that?
