I remember first reading this book in third grade, and I never stopped. It was full of wit and whimsy and beauty beyond the words. Amy was absolutely wonderful, and I loved seeing her journey as she breaks from the mold of the Perfect Princess in which her parents and society struggle to cage her. Before, my favorite princess could be chosen from the Disney pantheon circa 2007, where rebellion was Belle actually being able to read. It just gave whole new meaning to 'ordinary' and how ordinary is no flaw. The relevance of the themes of this book will always endure. Amy uses her common sense and her personality over looks or grace.
