Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Ocean’s Eleven follows Danny Ocean and his attempt to rob three Las Vegas casinos all in one night. The film is a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film and it is a crime/comedy film. The all star cast includes George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts. Danny Ocean is just out of jail and his mind is already on committing a crime. He gets together with his trusty friend Rusty to formulate a plan to rob the three casinos. Along the way in the planning process the duo recruit nine more individuals whose specific skills can aid them in robbing the casinos. The owner of the casinos, Terry Benedict, is a man you don’t want to mess with. As the eleven start to plan the robbery, they discover that Benedict’s girlfriend is Ocean’s ex-wife. This causes a twist in the story line. This movie is well worth anyone’s time. The gradual progression from planning to action is very enjoyable and the acting is phenomenal. The story is well written and the little details of the movie are easy to appreciate. Ocean’s Eleven cleverly shifts between seriousness and comedy at the right times to keep the viewer entertained. Overall, this is one of my favourite movies and I enjoy watching it every time.
