The writing is good and the bits on memory are interesting, but as a reader, I got impatient wading through all that jetsam and flotsam and just wanted to find out what happened to the missing girl. It's like this story is really 2 different books, one a tension filled story of the missing girl, the other a slow, dreamy, philosophical discussion of memory and consequences. I found the two did not mix well. But don't get me wrong; it's still a worthwhile read, with a believable resolution.
