Another great story from the Ilona Andrews team. The second in the Hidden Legacy series, you have to read the first one to truly enjoy this one. We pick up a few months after the end of the first book. Our main characters haven't had any contact with each other, and in Nevada's case learning more about her magic, and providing for her family. The plot really starts when a character from the first book (the animal mage) approaches Nevada about his wife's murder. He wants Nevada to investigate, and even though it is clear the Houses are involves, and the job is too risky for the Baylor family, she can't turn him away. Once again Rogan is working a similar case (on his own) and they end up working together on what is more than just a murder. Of course this is linked back to what they faced in the first book, and turns out they are getting close enough to stopping the bad guys that people are starting to notice. What I really liked was learning more about the other members of the family, and magic they may have. I can see this world being more than just three books, and becoming a longer series. I would LOVE that! My only worry is one I'm sure publishers and authors like readers to have-not getting enough, wanting the books to keep going, and asking for more. While I believe the authors will be able to wrap up their plot line in one more book (they are amazing like that), I don't know that we as readers will get to know the secondary characters as well as we would like and will want more on them that a single book will not be able to provide. But that is just me.
