I admit that I'm not a big Murakami fan, but the actress, Rinko Kikuchi, gives her usual sterling and superlative performance, which makes this movie. Otherwise, didn't agree with the main male character taking up again with Midori after her outright rejection of him; displayed far too much passivity, standard with a Murakami character. The main reason to watch this film is to see Rinko's acting in action. [Should have been cast in the Ghost in the Machine, American version.] Yen Khe did a great job on the set design and choices.
